The 1A

Cutting the skin of the mountain,

a spill granite and fallen trees -

October poplar.

They're not called aspen, they're poplar.

This is how you want them;

all geography defined by grassland.

There's no denying it.

There's no denial.

Closed in on all sides by Rocky Mountains,

variations of panic; and peaks claw at horizon.

It's sundown.

You don't have what you want.

No periphery of light.

And the road goes.

And the road goes.
